Job Duties
The Physics Department has an experimental Postdoctoral Research Associate opening to work on quantum sensing projects with defects in wide bandgap semiconductors. One of the positions is for a joint project between Morgan State University and Argonne National Laboratory, where most of the research activities will take place at the Physics and Engineering Physics Department at Morgan State University with several visits to Argonne National Laboratory throughout the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sample preparation, data collection and analysis
  • Manuscript preparation and presenting results at meetings
  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students

  • Recording experimental data

Requested Minimum Qualifications
Education
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Physics or a relevant field from an accredited college or university.

Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experimental research experience is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Candidates must be experienced in academic writing with a publication record. Clear and concise oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Hands on experience and background in optics, optical setups, data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of Cleanroom Micro/nanofabrication methods
  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic simulations, electronic circuits, RF antennas, and Python coding
  • Attention to detail
