Job Summary
The Department of Health & Kinesiology (H&K) at University of Utah Health is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to work in community-engaged, dissemination and implementation ( CEDI ) science with an emphasis on reducing health disparities and advancing health equity in physical activity, nutrition, weight control, health promotion, and disease prevention. The Scholar will have the opportunity to work in the context of the University of Utah Driving Out Diabetes Initiative that includes projects focused on middle and high school student education delivered to schools across Utah, providing access to healthful foods for people who are experiencing homeless or housing insecurity, and community-based screening and coaching for health promotion on the Wellness Bus mobile health unit. The position will provide training for an independent academic research career community-engaged research and evaluation sciences, dissemination and implementation science, and the prevention and control of diabetes. Scholars are expected to collaborate on established projects and are encouraged to conduct independent research with an emphasis on study conceptualization and execution in collaboration with key community partners, the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based interventions, peer-reviewed manuscript production, and grant applications. H&K training, resources, and collaborative support will enable Scholars to build their own research programs. Salary and fringe benefits are competitive. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will be mentored by Dr. Paul Estabrooks who has an exceptional track record of helping fellows obtain independent funding as principal investigators from the NCI , NHLBI , NIMHD , NIDDK , PCORI , AHA , and CDC .

Responsibilities
Scholars will be expected to collaborate with Dr. Estabrooks and other faculty, post docs, and students by participating in lead- and co-authored manuscripts, contributing to new grant applications and conducting ongoing metabolism and diabetes related research. Scholars will also contribute to the overall execution of existing and new research projects focused on increasing the reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and sustainability of Driving Out Diabetes programs. This includes taking a significant role in the evaluation of the Driving Out Diabetes Programs. This work explicitly focuses on eliminating health disparities in diabetes and its behavioral precursors.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications include a doctoral and/or professional degree in related fields (e.g., psychology, public health, kinesiology, exercise or nutrition sciences, health promotion/education, or other relevant social or population sciences). For PhD candidates, all requirements of the PhD or equivalent terminal degree must be completed before the post-doctoral research scholar appointment can begin. No citizenship requirement.
