The summer camp counselor position supports the 2nd annual Howling with CALS summer camp, for rising 9th graders from rural and/or underrepresented backgrounds or communities. The counselors provide overnight support and supervision. Camp dates will be 6/9/24 – 6/13/24.
The Howling with CALS camp is a residential summer camp that exposes campers to all 12 CALS departments in 5 days. The camp aims to increase awareness of agriculture and life sciences academic programs and opportunities and help campers prepare for their educational and career goals moving forward into high school.

Camp counselors will be responsible for a small group of campers 24/7 from 6/9/24 – 6/13/24, they will reside on campus in an assigned residence hall and room to supervise a group of 20 campers ages 13-15.
Camper knowledge will be obtained through a series of workshops on- and off- campus. Hands-on experiences through labs, workshops, and site visits may be included.
Camp counselors will assist with camper check-in and departures, planning and implementing a variety of social and recreational activities and acting as role models representing NC State University and the Howling with CALS camp initiatives. Counselors will need to ensure that campers respect university campus property, follow rules for living in a residence hall, and follow the behavior standards set by the camp.
