Job Description

The Management Department at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applications to fill a full-time temporary faculty member – non-tenure track (Instructor or Assistant Professor rank depending on qualifications and experience) to join the faculty of the Information Systems (IS) program beginning August 2024.

The position will be located in China to teach in our established international program at our partner university. This is a temporary full-time position (non-tenure track) for the 2024-2025 Academic year.

The department is part of the School of Business and has a partnership with a university in China to which we offer our BS in information systems program. The School of Business is AACSB accredited, and includes a BS in Information Systems, five BSBA programs, one graduate business program (MBA) which include several IS courses. Duties include:
  • Excellent classroom instruction, which may include online, traditional, and alternative instructional methods.
  • Scholarship that may involve undergraduate students.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a master’s degree in information systems or closely related field.

 

 
  • Successful candidate be willing to teach overseas in China.

 
  • Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including a teaching demonstration.

 
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence and relevant teaching experience at the university level.

 
  • Ability to effectively teach IS program courses face-to-face and online when required.

 
  • Commitment to the education of diverse populations, perceived ability to work productively with students and colleagues, and engagement in appropriate research endeavors is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D.. in Information Systems or closely related field from an AACSB accredited school or college. Highly qualified in the areas of interest to the department, including: data/business analytics, cyber security, databases, systems analysis, health information systems and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and other areas of IS will be entertained.
