Summary Position: Bank Street Education Center (the Ed Center), a division within Bank Street College of Education (the College) created to support the College’s work with school districts and external partners, is currently seeking a Director of Operations, Finance and Analytics to supervise and execute financial, operational and analytical projects related to budgeting, contract and grant management, operational management, and human resources across the Ed Center division.

Key relationships: The Director of Operations, Finance and Analytics will report to the Vice President (VP) at the Ed Center and work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer and other operational staff associated with the College as well as Ed Center senior leadership.

Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Ed Center’s leadership team and the College’s Strategy & Operations team, the Director of Finance & Operations will be responsible for ensuring that all operational aspects of the Ed Center are functioning at a high level in alignment with College-wide practices.

Leadership

  • Participate in weekly meetings as a member of the Ed Center Leadership team, and represent the Division as a participant in College-wide Divisional Operations point meetings
  • Support operations staff member across Ed Center teams
  • Partner with leaders of Bank Street College Strategy & Operations teams, including Facilities, IT, Business Office, and HR
  • Support the initiatives of the Vice President more broadly across Ed Center and College, including business development, staff development, communications, implementation strategy, etc.
  • Provide thought leadership and collaboration on the College’s Strategic Plan development and budget sustainability
  • Make recommendations and support decision-making across divisions with leadership connected to strategic budgeting decisions that are often driven by funding requirements and constraints

Operations

  • Understand the programmatic and cultural strengths, values, traditions, and opportunities of Bank Street in order to support smooth operational functioning
  • Partner and liaise with Strategy & Operations to support the Ed Center staff in understanding the organizational policies, processes, and structures of the institution and collaborate with the teams to adapt and/or develop policies or processes needed
  • Draft, create and refine policies and procedures for the Ed Center in relation to budget, human resources and operations
  • Lead projects that require cross-functional engagement within the Ed Center, across the College and with external partners
  • Support the development of reports or updates for a range of constituents in a range of formats for board members, Office of Communications, the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, and other key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to support hiring, onboarding and reemployment processes as well as ongoing HR workflows

Budget & Finance

  • Develop and monitor the annual budgets across the Ed Center
  • Provide thought leadership with key team members across the Ed Center and Strategy & Operations around effective approaches and systems to ensure financial sustainability in the Ed Center’s portfolio of partnerships
  • Partner with divisional and College leadership to develop potential project and team budgets aligned to the mission of the Ed Center as well as the Ed Center’s and the College’s strategic plans
  • Design and refine systems to monitor spending and track grant and contract funds appropriately
  • Partner with Grants Accountant for project invoicing systems to external constituents
  • In collaboration with the Business Office and relevant team members, oversee and generate financial reporting for grants, contracts, and potentially other funding sources like endowment funds
  • Work with the Business Office to support the administration payroll

Analytics

  • Support in collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing impact data across the work of the Ed Center in support of a divisional analytical vision
  • Undertake research, tracking trends, creating statistical models, and preparing presentations to support the strategic priorities of the Ed Center
  • Compile pertinent background materials for key meetings and initiatives, as needed

 

Qualifications

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team and with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to design and manage complex team and divisional budgets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both virtual and in-person settings
  • Problem resolution and organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects, navigate ambiguity, and set priorities for oneself and the team in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analytic strategies and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of an organizational change strategy; ability to design systems or processes to solve a problem
  • Advanced skills using Google suite and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts

Experiences

  • At least five years of professional experience supporting operations and/or project management work in a non-profit or education-focused organization
  • Experience planning and managing complex projects towards results
  • Experience in organizations funded through grants and contracts

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
