Job Description

Position Summary

The Athletics Department is recruiting for a part-time Head Volleyball Coach.  This position is responsible for coaching the Victoria College Women’s Volleyball team. Typical duties will include on court practices, game coaching, supervising athletes; transporting athletes to and from contests; working with the Assistant Athletics Director to schedule games and maintain budget. Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

  1. Coaches the VC women’s volleyball team in practices and games.
  2. Works with the Assistant Athletics Director on eligibility of players and ensuring the compliance of athletes in regards to the VC Student Handbook, Student Athlete Handbook, and TCAC Handbook.
  3. Adheres to the budget set forth by the Athletic Department.
  4. Maintains volleyball equipment including balls, uniforms, and practice equipment.
  5. Transports athletes to and from athletic contests.
  6. Monitor student-athlete academic progress.
  7. Recruit potential student-athletes.
  8. Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community.
  9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Minimum four years’ experience in coaching volleyball required;
  • Experience in P.E., athletics, or kinesiology preferred;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to serving students;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends;
  • Strong administrative skills;
  • Ability to connect with the community;
  • Ability to fundraise;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and community;

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand, walk, push and pull. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 -50 pounds while setting up tables, chairs and gym equipment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and some color vision. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
