Position Summary
Directs SFCC’s TRiO program operations. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.

This role offers the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule arrangement as determined by the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, combining both remote work and in-office presence, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.
 
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Writes and administers TRiO/Student Support Services grants prepared to serve the
  • academic, advising, mental health and cultural needs of students.
  • Validates and verifies data and adheres to strict federal guidelines in order to write and submit competitive grant proposals.
  • Supervises and evaluates the work of program staff.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and evaluation of professional tutors.
  • Ensures program compliance with federal grant requirements.
  • Directs the preparation and submission of the annual performance review, including assessments of compliance with federal guidelines and procedures.
  • Oversees the development and management of annual budgets; ensures compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Coordinates TRiO program operations with the Department of Education.
  • Ensures that student applications meet federal guidelines.
  • Collects and manages program data.
  • Assesses program effectiveness.
  • Tutors and mentors program students.
  • Meets with staff to plan strategic program goals.
  • Advocates for the TRiO program to college administration.
  • Serves as regional scholarship chair for TRiO.
  • Reviews TRiO materials and website information.
  • Serves on college committees as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • Knowledge of grant application and administration principles.
  • Knowledge of program policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of personnel management principles.
  • Knowledge of college budgeting policies.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of MLA and APA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning techniques.
  • Skill in conducting surveys, assessing information on charts and graphs, and evaluating reports.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to understand and apply government rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read, assess, and apply requirements for federal grant regulations.
  • Ability to plan and implement the scholarship process.
  • Ability to apply sustainability concepts into work systems.
  • Ability to apply AQIP-based management approaches.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Four (4) years’ experience designing, managing, or implementing instructional or student services in a higher education setting.
  • Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) experience.
 
 
Physical Demands
  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee
    occasionally lifts light objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.

  • 40 hours per week: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, M-F
