Assistant or Associate Professor of Marketing
Job Description
The Department of Business Administration and Accounting at Saint Michael's College invites applications for a full-time Instructor or Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) of Marketing position to begin in January or August 2025. To be considered for a tenure-track position, candidates must be committed to maintaining an active record of scholarship and have an appropriate terminal degree. Teaching responsibilities include six four-credit classes per academic year from among our required and elective business administration courses. Candidates should also be interested in curriculum development, outcomes assessment, student advising, and engage in College-wide service.
Typical courses include principles of marketing, marketing electives, and either managerial ethics or one of the business administration’s required experiential options. Potential elective courses include international marketing, marketing management, sports marketing, consumer behavior, and marketing research. There is room in the curriculum to also develop integrated marketing courses such as sales, public relations, marketing for nonprofits, marketing ethics and sustainability, marketing analytics, or services marketing. A new digital marketing major is housed in our Digital Medial and Communications department creating potential to teach interdisciplinary courses as need in that program grows. There may be an option to also teach in one of the College’s interdisciplinary programs given a candidate’s background.
Our department culture is committed to student excellence, effective communication, and passion for teaching and service. Our faculty explore opportunities for co-authored teaching and research. Innovative approaches to teaching, passion, enthusiasm, and effective use of technology are desired to achieve department learning outcomes.
Our lived experience impacts how we self-assess our skills, experience, and qualifications. In particular, data and statistics have shown that candidates who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, people from working-class backgrounds, people with disabilities, and others with minoritized and marginalized identities may not apply to jobs when they do not believe they meet 100% of the requirements and expected responsibilities listed in the job descriptions. Some responsibilities and skills are teachable and can be learned on the job. If you can imagine yourself in this position, bringing value to our students and community and meeting most of what we are looking for, please apply.
Benefits include health, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance, voluntary life, critical illness and accident insurance options, parental leave, flexible spending accounts (healthcare and dependent care), 401(k), employee and dependent tuition benefits, employee assistance program, well-being programs and opportunities, discounted gym membership, paid volunteer time, use of the athletic facilities and the library, and countless opportunities to attend presentations, lectures, and other campus activities.
