Position Title: Vice President, Finance
General Purpose:
The Vice President of Finance plays a crucial role in leading the financial strategy and management of the organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility, sustainability, and alignment with the organization’s mission and goals. Reporting directly to the CEO or CSO, the VP of Finance oversees all aspects of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and Board of Directors to support decision-making and drive organizational growth.
Develop and implement financial plans, policies, and procedures to ensure effective financial management and accountability.
Monitor key financial metrics and performance indicators, identifying opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic budgets aligned with organizational priorities.
Conduct financial forecasting and scenario analysis to support long-term planning and resource allocation decisions.
Monitor budget-to-actual performance and variance analysis, recommending adjustments as needed to achieve financial targets.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and disclosures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and compliance reviews, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
Maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure financial integrity.
Provide regular financial updates and insights to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
Treasury and Cash Management:
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and investments to optimize financial resources and minimize risk.
Develop cash flow forecasting models to support operational needs and capital planning.
Monitor banking relationships and recommend strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Grant and Contract Management:
Oversee grant and contract accounting processes, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and reporting obligations.
Work closely with Development staff to track grant revenue, expenses, and outcomes.
Provide financial analysis and support for grant proposals, negotiations, and reporting.
Requirements:Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. MBA, CPA, or CMA strongly preferred.
Significant experience in financial management, including leadership roles in nonprofit organizations or relevant sectors.
Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
Proven track record of strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as QuickBooks or comparable platforms.
Expert in Excel.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
