Job Roles
- Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the coding department that has experienced an increase in the volume of medical coding due to the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the residents that FHCSD provides healthcare-related services.
- Lead assigned staff to include determining work procedures and overseeing assignment productivity.
- Oversee coding, coding compliance and department process improvements.
- Determine and monitor internal processes to ensure compliance with department procedures, and state and federal rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
- Associate degree, or higher, in healthcare administration, finance, accounting, business administration, medical coding, or related field required
- CPC or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) accredited certification required
- RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
- Experience in the healthcare industry or outpatient medical clinics required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)
- Intermediate level knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Intermediate skills in computer applications and software, including MS Office, Electronic Health Records, and others.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and strong motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with employees, coworkers, and departments.
- Knowledge of Lead practices and techniques to include training and input into employee development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Successful track record of leading and driving positive change through others.
- Thorough knowledge of revenue cycle processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

23.40 - 33.38If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
