Job Summary
Mesa Community College is excited to extend the opportunity to join its Custodial facilities department at the Red Mountain Campus.
The purpose and importance of the Custodian position is to provides a full range of custodial duties campus wide to include but not limited to: Sweeping, mopping, maintaining restrooms, breakrooms, maintaining trash/recycle bins, multi-surface wipe downs and overall general cleanliness upkeep of all facilities campus wide.
Essential Functions
35% - Sweeps, mops, strips, and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans carpets; cleans whiteboards, dusts, and polishes furniture. In-depth knowledge of property chemical handling, floor-care, general cleaning techniques, and knowledge of use of cleaning equipment
20% - Maintains restrooms, break rooms, clean cobwebs inside and outside
15% - Performs minor maintenance tasks and reports repairs that are needed; arranges furniture and equipment for events; other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position
10% - Inspects and conducts routine maintenance of small equipment used by custodial
10% - Empties and cleans trash cans and recycles receptacles; uses electric vehicles to haul trash and equipment when necessary
10% - Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a college or large school environment.
- Experience providing customer service to a wide variety of people in medium to large facilities.
- Two (2) years of experience working with industrial cleaning methods and chemicals.
- Two (2) years of experience operating custodial equipment.
- Two (2) Experience with proper use, storage, dilution and labeling of cleaning products
- One (1) Experience in conducting quality control checks
Special Working Conditions
This position will be located at the Red Mountain campus at 7110 E McKellips Rd, Mesa, AZ 85207
May be required to lift or carry up to 20 lbs.
Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
