Job Title- WORK STUDY STUDENT ASSISTANT-MAILROOM

Position Status- Work Study

Classification Title- CWS-Up to 15 hpw

Work Location- Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary- Assist mailroom operations by picking up and delivering mail to all College campuses in Midland.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled student and registered for classes
  • Must meet all Work Study eligibility requirements through the Financial Aid Office
  • Ability to pick up, sort, and deliver mail to all Midland College campuses located in Midland, TX
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Responsible
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of general office equipment, including copier, fax machine, and multi-line telephone
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Essential Functions

  • Drive to the post office and pick up incoming mail in MC vehicle;
  • Sort mail by the department and individual employees;
  • Deliver mail to the proper department/recipient using MC vehicle or golf cart;
  • Responsible for applying correct postage using a postage meter to all outgoing mail;
  • Answer phone;
  • Safely drive a golf cart;
  • Answer questions about mailroom operations;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move and drive a van and/or golf cart from the office to other locations on and off campus
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Duties indoors and outdoors

Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary- $9.20 per hour

Max Salary- $9.20 per hour
