The Academic HR Analyst 2 should apply professional UC academic HR concepts, organization and/or system-wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to PIs and academics to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity. The position requires a good understanding of UC, campus, and unit academic practices, policies, and procedures to resolve moderate to complex academic HR-related issues affecting a broad range of academic titles in the department. This critical position facilitates academic personnel actions in collaboration with other Schools, Colleges, and Departments at UC Davis, other UC campus, and other institutes. The incumbent is responsible for the full spectrum of HR and Personnel activities, including but not limited to; academic personnel actions, policies, and procedures related to recruitments, appointments, and visas. This position reports directly to the CAO.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/ or equivalent experience/ training
- Minimum of one (1) year of knowledge and experience with HR practices, laws, regulations, and policies.
- Experience working in an academic setting.
- Requires thorough knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
- Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures, and practices that govern academic HR administration.
- Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials, and make critical decisions regarding personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses.
- Experience working as part of a team that develops and delivers effective solutions.
- Experience using analytical skills to research and interpret data and policy, contribute to solutions, forecast the impact of potential actions, develop logical conclusions, and/or recommend solutions.
- Experience coordinating large volumes of work; managing detailed projects with conflicting priorities and competing deadlines; and establishing goals and workload priorities.
- Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to interact with a diverse group of individuals clearly and effectively at all levels within the organization to secure and/or provide or present information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and foster and promote the goals of the organization.
- Organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, develop, and carry out project assignments in an efficient and timely manner, and provide accurate and succinct documentation of activities.
- Experience writing summaries, proposals, correspondence, and other communications with skills to edit copy for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Experience and/or skills to use but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, UC Davis-specific accounting, payroll, and human resources systems; design custom databases, produce reports and queries using various programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience or skills to learn Academic and Staff Personnel Administration, Resident Physician Subspecialties, and Volunteer Clinical Faculty.
- Knowledge and experience with but not limited to: UCPATH, Cognos, AggieService, OATS, AP Recruit, and PeopleAdmin systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SISS policies and procedures and good working knowledge of various visa levels and processes.
- Knowledge and skills to analyze and review financial documents.
- Experience using iGlobal and Banner.
- Experience working with faculty on various personnel-related actions.

Department Overview
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine's mission is to conduct world-class research in biochemistry and molecular medicine, to excel in undergraduate, graduate and medical education, and to serve the university through leadership in forums committed to graduate and professional school admissions and curriculum. Research in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine addresses the fundamental molecular aspects of cell biology, gene expression, cancer biology, membrane biology, glycobiology, neurobiology, muscle physiology, human genetics, chemical and structural biology, molecular imaging and drug development. In addition to innovative research activities, faculty are involved in the teaching and training of medical and doctoral students.
The faculty of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine maintain laboratories in the Davis Campus at Tupper Hall and in the Department of Chemistry. In Sacramento, the Department maintains laboratories at the Oak Park Research Building, UC Davis Cancer Center and MIND Institute.
