Job Title- PT INSTRUCTOR-HSCE-PHARMACY TECH (Pool)
Position Status- Part Time
Classification Title- Part-Time Instructor-HSCE-Up to 19 hpw
Work Location- ATC-3200 W. Cuthbert, Midland, TX
Job Summary- This position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering training for pharmacy technician and other health science courses. This will include participation in content development and arranging lab and clinical experience. Must work within Midland College and ISD guidelines, and the Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be certified as a Pharmacy Technician and currently registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum of three years of experience working as a Pharmacy Tech
- Knowledge of computer applications, general office equipment, and equipment related to pharmacy field
- Strong organizational skills
- Self-motivated, independent worker
- Knowledge of PTCB (Pharmacy Tech Certification Board) regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Tech certification exam content
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, both orally and in writing
- Interest in working in a college setting
- Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in diverse pharmacy settings: retail, hospital
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a health science-related field
- Experience teaching adolescent or adult students
Essential Functions
- Instruct Pharmacy Tech and other health science students in theory and skill
- Utilize a variety of effective and professional teaching techniques and methods to assist students in attaining the performance objectives of the course
- Assist in the development of course curriculum
- Oversee student clinical or practicum experience in various community facilities, including arranging and coordinating with sites
- Oversee skills lab experience, including inventory of supplies and equipment
- Prepare a report of student success according to Midland College and Midland ISD guidelines
- Maintain budgetary compliance
- Attend meetings as required by the Department Chair and Dean
- Observe the administrative policies and mission of Midland College
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
- The person in this position needs to occasionally travel to clinical sites
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- Use of manual dexterity
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift/move up to 25 pounds
- Duties indoors and some outdoors
- Office, classroom, simulation laboratory, and community setting with common related chemicals present
Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.
Min Salary- $25/hr (Certification/Registered); $30/hr (Specialized Certifications)
Max Salary- $50.00/hr (Registered Pharmacist)
Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
