Research Program Coordinator
Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine is seeking a full time Research Program Coordinator. Under the direct supervision of the Co-Principal Investigators, the RDC will assist in the day-to-day logistical and operational tasks involving the initiation and management of a study funded by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) that is a randomized comparative effectiveness trial of an alcohol intervention involving brief intervention and mindfulness training in a population of adolescents involving 13 clinical primary care sites in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
The successful candidate will have familiarity with relevant data bases, data management skills, documentation and writing skills to assure quality and precision of the data to be collected and will follow all appropriate measures to ensure that the information is adequately protected. This individual will collaborate with research staff, programmers, database administrators, and other research faculty to design customized applications to meet the specifications of the data management plan; create procedures to identify potential data problems and communicate with research staff to resolve data problems; create technical documents detailing defined procedures and create and implement training sessions for the research assistants.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigators in developing and implementing the data management plan including, structure/format, coding, review, entry, validation, editing, and reporting of research data.
- Assist in the design of program evaluation protocols to evaluate program impacts and outcomes.
- Assist Principal Investigators/Co-I’s with development/adaptation of measurement tools (qualitative and quantitative) to capture progress towards program goals.
- Program, distribute, and track online data collection.
- Create, label, and score datasets.
- Create and maintain detailed codebooks.
- Create reports summarizing program evaluation impacts and work with team to develop recommendations for program improvement.
- Participate in the preparation of journal articles and conference presentations.
- Communicate evaluation plans and findings to key collaborators.
- Oversee dashboard creation to track program progress on outcomes to facilitate progress reporting to funders and collaborators.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with community collaborators.
- Manage quality assurance and completeness of implementation of the program evaluation plan, study measures and datasets.
- Participate in literature and data searches using various sources.
- Proactively seek to improve or optimize workflow and discuss with coordinator/supervisor as appropriate.
- Provide guidance to staff on data collection best practices and SOPs.
- Plan, execute, and track data management tasks in accordance with project timelines.
- Apply highest ethical and university standards for safeguarding personal identification information of study participants and any other identifiable data.
- Connect with community partners and build collaborative partnerships.
- Provide weekly updates to the PIs and other key personnel.
- Make strategic recommendations and implement decisions to meet project milestones.
- Assist with the coordination and prioritization of various research activities.
- Supervising, overseeing, and training members of the research team, which may include a) professional interviewers/counselors, b) staff research associates, c) assistants and d) graduate students.
- Generate reports for presentations and professional meetings.
- Communicate regularly with principal investigators and collaborators to review data analysis progress.
- Establish regular communication systems between study components and field site partners.
- Oversee program evaluation activities.
Additional Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Knowledge and experience with SAS, Stata, SPSS, REDCap and/or Qualtrics.
- Knowledge and experience with internet and web-based scholarly search engines (e.g., Scopus, PubMed & Google Scholar)
- Knowledge and experience with training development.
- Proficiency in the use of software applications and databases including MS Office, Zoom, Teams, etc.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to community processes and findings to a variety of audiences, including community leaders, members, and youth.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability and willingness to perform organizational and administrative duties.
- Ability to connect with community partners and build collaborative partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Program Evaluation/Data Management or a Certificate in Program Evaluation/Data Management.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative program evaluation methods, including experience with development and implementation of tools.
- Experience with data management and tracking, including dashboard creation.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($49,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
