Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Access & Reimbursement (ARM) is responsible for building and sustaining a high-performing team of experienced access & reimbursement leaders to support our field-based organization and our health care providers, accounts and patients as appropriate. This role will require a strategic vision to drive the success of our reimbursement team, as well as the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions. This leader will have a team of field Directors of Access & Reimbursement to help us achieve our goals.
The Executive Director of ARM and their team will work closely with our patient services team, specialty pharmacies, REMS administrator and market access team to help minimize barriers to access for our patients. Additional critical partnerships for this role to establish include serving as a key stakeholder with sales, marketing, and other functions within Travere. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in building out field teams with an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to play a hands-on role in supporting launch excellence.
Responsibilities
Provides strategic thought leadership to the field access & reimbursement team by fostering a collaborative culture, growing and developing team members and inspiring excellence and execution for our patients.
Leads and inspires a team of Access & Reimbursement managers, providing strategic guidance to Regional Access & Reimbursement Directors.
Develops a comprehensive understanding of current and future competition, executing access & reimbursement strategies to compete effectively.
Develops comprehensive field access & reimbursement strategies to optimize patient initiation experience and pull through metrics.
Designs and implements both short and long-term resource requirements, strategies, goals, objectives, policies, and operational procedures for the Access & Reimbursement field organization inclusive of new indication and/or product launch.
Ensures the team is addressing access barriers by strategically working with customers and accounts to solve the most complex patient access issues through all facets of the reimbursement cycle.
Engages in the cross-functional process to set account, pull through strategy, overseeing its effective implementation.
Drives coordination of tactics/initiatives across sales, marketing, hub services, REMS administrator, DNAs.
Executes a reimbursement strategy that addresses the needs of our collective target audience, including physicians, nurses, pharmacy, billing.
Serves as the recognized expert on coverage policies on a local and national level and changes that are taking place or expected to impact our patients.
Leads in the development of access & reimbursement CRM platform.
Builds and leads a high performing and diverse team.
Influences and provides key input on the company culture and approach.
Aligns KPIs with tools and measures to assure transparency and success
Ensures commercial compliance with regulations and relevant internal policies (including S&OP, workflow development, etc.)
Maintains a compliant, patient-centric approach in all that we do.
Is an active contributor into the annual brand planning process and business reviews
Spends time in the field with regional directors and managers in order to support individual development, help with issue resolution as well as provide coaching, direction and feedback.
Cultivates relationships with key accounts to foster positive acceptance of FILSPARI onboarding process.
Works collaboratively with our Market access and Payer Account teams to provide and gather insights that allow us to better address the needs of our customers and patients.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field required. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
12-15 years of pharma/biotech or related experience.
3+ years of direct experience in managing field reimbursement teams.
Familiarity with health insurance claim forms, explanation of benefits, prior authorization forms, and EMR/Practice Mgmt. systems, to troubleshoot cases where claims submission or documentation errors may occur.
Specialty pharmaceutical, nephrology, rare disease, REMs experience preferred.
Experience in managing access complexities associated with a new to market medication.
Experience with specialty pharmacy products / products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks.
Additional Skills/Experience:

Proven ability to build relationships with HCPs, office staff, sales team, and Hub counterparts.
Comprehensive understanding of private/commercial insurance reimbursement, government payer Medicare Part D, VA, etc.
Demonstrated experience in helping to educate on reimbursement processes (inc. foundational knowledge of benefit verifications, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determination requirement.
Ability to resolve issues / educate virtually (within access & reimbursement / case management).
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Excellent time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various projects and to prioritize under fixed schedules and in high pressure situations.
Previous line management experience with the ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting staff.
Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets, and critical paths.
Ability to adapt to modification and changes to project plans, demonstrating flexibility to implement new strategies and tactics to accommodate these changes.
Computer skills (basic Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
The position is field based.
Flexibility to travel as needed (up to 35%) for company meetings and specific business needs.
The ability to perform face to face work with customers, colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego, and the ability to satisfactorily meet credentialling requirements for access to healthcare facilities and customer sites on an ongoing basis, are essential job functions of this position.

Compensation: Our competitive compensation package includes a combination of both cash compensation (base pay and short-term incentive) and long-term incentive compensation (company stock), designed to recognize, retain, and reward employees.
Target Base Pay Range:
$235,000.00 - $315,000.00*This information is current as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay offered to a candidate will depend on a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, education, skills, and location.
