Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $270,000 - $310,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://med.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension is recruiting Academic Transplant Nephrologists for faculty positions.

The UC San Diego Kidney Transplant program is the oldest and largest kidney transplant program in San Diego performing over 170 kidney transplants in 2023. The Division continues to expand its clinical care for recipients of deceased donors, living donors, and multiorgan transplants.

Responsibilities include pre- and post-transplant management of kidney transplant recipients in the inpatient and outpatient settings, evaluation of living kidney donors, dialysis and apheresis care, nephrology consultation, critical care nephrology including continuous renal replacement therapy modalities, plasmapheresis, and end-stage renal disease care. Responsibilities also include participation in weekly selection committee and monthly quality meetings. Other duties of the position include scholarly activities and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in didactics and clinical settings.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidate must have a DO, MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in health-related areas.

Candidates must also be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Nephrology.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with research and clinical interest in transplantation and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the design and evaluation of clinical trials and observational data to evaluate kidney transplant outcomes are preferred.

Candidates with 1 year AST-ASN certified transplant fellowship completed or demonstrated having completed 30 in-patient and 30 outpatient recipient management experiences; 3 surgical observations; 3 procurement observations; 25 recipient evaluations, and 10 living donor evaluations are preferred.
