REPORTS TO: Dean of Academic Affairs

 

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Per Semester/Course Contract

 

 

COMPENSATION: $1,150 to $1,725 per credit, determined by education credentials

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Adjunct Instructor teaches one or more courses within the Construction Trades Technology (CTT) division, specifically Electrical and Plumbing (no more than 7.5 credits per semester).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum.
  • Develops and submits current syllabus, using the college template.
  • Prepares administrative documents, such as student withdrawals and attendance.
  • Evaluates student performance and submits grades to the registrar.
  • Maintain office hours (in-person, telephonically, or online).
  • Participates in professional development as necessary to be proficient in the college’s current technologies and learning platform (Empower and MyCampus).
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated professional and/or teaching experience in Construction Trades.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience with distance delivery. 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational work experience; North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.

 

 

 EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:

Has attained the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman status with five years of recent related professional experience or equivalent qualifications.
  • One year of related professional industry or post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Certified NCCER Instructor or have the ability to become a certified NCCER Instructor within 90 days.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 

 

 EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

  • Journeyman status with five years of recent related professional experience or equivalent qualifications or NCCER Instructor Qualified in Plumbing and Electrical.
