The Electrical Distribution QA/QC will quality check power line, underground, and piping designs and prepare detailed technical designs of moderate to high complexity for additions and modifications to gas and/or electric facilities from onset through completion of project. They will also prepare the construction orders with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that conform to standards, material units, safety orders, and governmental regulations. The Electrical Distribution QA/QC will be detail oriented and display strong communication. They will be required to work with project team members to meet specific dates, communicate regularly with the team to complete tasks and ensure all program guidelines and standards are followed. This is a Hybrid role that will require 2-3 days on-site in San Diego.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems.
- Proficiency in O-Calc Pro, SAP, DPSS, CISCO, word processing, spreadsheets and Outlook required. PLS-CADD is preferred.
- Prepares detailed technical designs of high complexity for additions, modifications and removal of company electric transmission facilities from onset through completion of project.
- Prepares the construction packages with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that conform to company standards, safety orders, and governmental regulations.
- Manages design files and functional organization of design comments and iterations.
- In this position you will be required to work with project managers to meet specific dates, communicate regularly with the team to complete tasks and ensure all program guidelines and standards are followed.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings to produce a bill of materials.
- Perform quality control for all aspects of overhead to underground conversion project.
- Assist in implementation of E2's QA/QC program.
- Job site visits to confirm documentation is accurate, up to date and stored properly.
- Ensure all mobile app forms are accurate and submitted.
- Responsible for ensuring all service cards are entered and accurate.
- Monitor Inspector performance and recommend changes.
- Review construction forms to ensure they are legible, complete, accurate and are in accordance with client standards.
Record any issues found and follow up until resolution is achieved. - Document resolution to each issue.
- Ensure all project documentation is kept up to date, are properly completed, and are properly stored.
- Assist with equipment inventory, issuance of equipment, and calibrations as necessary.
- Create or implement improved processes and techniques to enhance project deliverables.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years electrical distribution and underground experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years managing / inspecting construction projects for natural gas transmission/distribution pipelines.
- Project experience with urban and rural natural gas pipeline/power line construction.
- Proficiency in Autodesk and other applicable tools.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Experience coordinating inspectors across disciplines.
- Ability to read construction drawings, alignment sheets and valve maps and translate to actual field constructability.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical distribution related to overhead and underground facilities applying engineering principles, prescribed standards, guides, specifications, and practical design solutions.
- Knowledge of power distribution systems to determine optimal civil and electrical construction layouts. Including, but not limited to, primary distribution equipment (such as transformers, switches, fuses, valves, etc.), high voltage and low voltage cables and connections, service entrance switchboards, trench route, and structure set locations.
- Experience performing distribution calculations including cable pulling, electrical demand, and voltage drop and flicker.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings to produce a bill of materials.
- Perform quality control for all aspects of overhead to underground conversion project.
- Experience designing within environmental and easement constraints.
- Familiarity with data mapping systems.
- Strong communication skills required for interfacing with clients, subcontractors, and various stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
- Experience with standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures related to the design of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- OSHA Certified is desired.

Salary range for this position is $110,000 - $205,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
