Job Description
We seek an Associate Strategic Initiatives who will support the Sr. Associate Dean for Finance and Administration in the distillation of complex data into useful financial reports and tools as well as on the creation of strategic financial presentations to inform decision- making among senior leadership on a wide range of financial strategy and policy issues. This role will work to provide analytic capacity on issues and initiatives of interest to school and department leadership and will also act as a strategic consultant to the SOE on best practices for data gathering and data quality.
Reporting to the Sr. Associate Dean for Finance and Administration, the position will manage a portfolio of strategic and financial analysis projects and work with members of SOE finance, and other key stakeholders across the School to move these projects forward. The incumbent will work collaboratively with senior staff across SOE, including within academic affairs teams. This position develops, integrates, and delivers reports, dashboards, and other analytical solutions used by senior leadership for strategic planning, decision support, and evaluation of key performance indicators, with a focus on core financial planning and analysis and revenue modeling that drives enrollment management decisions and efforts across the School.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize SAP and Oracle reporting tools to provide decision support by delivering accurate and timely financial analyses for strategic initiatives, issues and projects of high priority for senior leadership, as well as for the regular financial reporting cycle of SOE Finance.
- Support the Sr. Associate Dean in creating financial models, enrollment models, long- range forecasts, operating and capital budgets to solve complex problems and answer nuanced questions.
- Improve and refine existing financial models to accurately forecast critical financial and operational metrics against strategic goals.
- Develop and oversee a data strategy that leverages modern technologies for data collection, compilation, and dissemination. Develop and refine data ownership policies, procedures, and best practices with SOE.
- Develop and implement a roadmap for creation and utilization of automated data delivery and self-service data tools. Conceptualize, build, and maintain a suite of dashboards, reports, and tools for various audiences to be used for decision support and for tracking and evaluation of key performance indicators.
- Become a trusted partner and advisor to senior leadership on topics related to financial analytics and modeling.
- Support the conducting of comprehensive benchmark studies on strategic, financial, and operational topics to drive improvement and enhance existing processes.
- Support the academic program review, development, and external program accreditation processes in partnership with academic affairs teams. Assist Enrollment Management Services in ensuring data quality and integrity for internal and external entities.
- Coordinate and produce reports and surveys for internal compliance reporting and for external organizations and membership groups including US News and World Report and accrediting bodies, ensuring data quality and integrity for internal and external entities.
- Create high quality presentation materials, reports, and memoranda in order to communicate context, findings, and recommendations to various audiences including senior school leadership.
- Work independently to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects and project timelines; proactively manage any potential roadblocks and work with teams/stakeholders to ensure projects stay on track.
- Establish strong partnerships with key staff in SOE departments and in central administration.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline.
- Financial Analysis, project management and consulting experience with 5 years of related work experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Finance, Business, Public Administration or a related field is highly preferred.
- Financial analysis, project management, and/or consulting experience desired with 5-7 years of related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility. Experience working in a higher education environment desirable.
- Knowledge of the Oracle Smartview reporting tool and PowerBI.
- Knowledge of SAP.

Starting Salary Range: $73,300 - $128,300 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week
