OC GlobalGeneral Summary
The Instructional Designer serves on the OC Global Instructional Design team and is responsible for the appropriate integration and assessment of instructional technologies to support Odessa College’s Quality Course Components (QC2) program. In addition to collaborating with faculty on the evaluation and integration of educational technology, the Instructional Designer serves as a facilitator for OC Global’s Online Teaching Certificate Program. Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the Instructional Design team will actively engage with faculty and the college’s Instructional Leadership in the development and growth of quality distance education programs.
Specific Position Duties
- Assist faculty in integrating technological innovations into the course development process.
- Maintain availability via phone, email, web; Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies and tools and make recommendations for use. Ongoing, as appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with faculty to design, lead or participate in the development of dynamic instructional materials for online, hybrid and face-to-face courses.
- Maintain virtual availability; Serve as the Virtual College of Texas (VCT) coordinator for Odessa College.
- Development of a virtual library of instructional support resources for faculty, including video and other digital content.
- Design, present or publish appropriate training and support resources, workshops or courses to faculty and adjuncts both face-to-face and online.
- Complete QC2 course evaluations as requested each semester.
- Weekly staff meetings via Blackboard Collaborate, QC2 Management, Special Projects, etc.
- Develop engaging instructional materials, learning activities, and assessments that improve student learning experiences and learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop learning goals and objectives and align them to learning experiences.
- Conduct original research and analysis on learners, design approaches, and outcomes, Apply tested learning design theories, practice, and methodologies.
- Use the evaluation of learners’ experiences and outcomes to employ design improvements.
- Evaluate and improve faculty experience with online certification program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in instructional technology, education, information science, or a related field.
- Experience working with Blackboard Learn and other learning management systems as an instructor, help desk support, and/or system administrator.
- Experience working with design software such as desktop publishing, photo/audio/video editing, web design and emerging web 2.0 technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design principles and practices.
