How you will make an impact

The Director, Medical Communications & Publications, creates and manages the Global Publication Plans for Halozyme's products and pipeline assets by working collaboratively with internal and external key collaborators. In this role, you write, review and edit abstracts, posters and manuscripts, manage publication budgets, as well as lead preparation processes, standards, quality, and timelines in support of all applicable publications. This role is the leader in medical communications activities including educational programming, unrestricted educational grants, and conference participation.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead strategic, operational and tactical planning and execution for Global Publications to expand the audiences we reach (nurse, pharmacist, payers)

  • Lead Global Publication Team meetings with cross-functional and cross-regional participants and provide publication status reports and overall planning updates

  • Provide direction and vision for new innovative approaches for communication and publication of data through the appropriate venues and complaint ways to reach the target audiences

  • Work well with key authors (internal and external) and develop an authorship planning process

  • Coordinate with internal and external collaborators to lead the seamless execution of abstracts, posters, oral presentations and manuscripts according to publication plan

  • Write and revise abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for submission to scientific congresses or peer-reviewed journals

  • Lead the support coordination at key scientific congresses and meetings including preparation of daily reports and congress summaries

  • Proactively review and interpret pertinent and emerging scientific literature and support MLR efforts as needed

  • Lead department staff, contractors, and publication vendors, ensuring work is high quality and developed on time and within budget

  • Develop a Publication Database / workflow management system

  • Define conference strategy and manage the unrestricted educational grant process

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A PhD, or PharmD, with a minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar or related role (an equivalent combination of education and experience in Scientific Communications may be considered)

  • Understanding and prior experience in Good Publication Practices for U.S and Ex-U. S

  • Ability to prioritize and plan for development, standard methodologies, and innovation

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant clinical and therapeutic issues

  • Ability to build and present scientific and clinical data

  • Experience performing scientific literature searches and ability to analyze and evaluate data

  • Outstanding organizational, project planning and leadership skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal communication skills and the ability to relate and work with a wide range of people to achieve results

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of your time

The most likely base pay range for this position is $172K - $258K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual's exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
