Job Summary

Are you interested in getting involved in research that makes a difference? The Suicide Prevention Research in the Community Lab (SPRCL), is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join our team. We are a multi-disciplinary research team based in the Department of Psychiatry and affiliated with the Youth and Young Adult Depression and Suicide Prevention Research Team as well as UM's Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention. Our team conducts community-engaged research and program evaluation in a collaborative and supportive work environment. 

In this role, you will support projects within SPRCL's portfolio, including community-engaged program evaluation and intervention development research. You will work closely with the SPRCL Project Managers and support the day-to-day operations of the projects. You should be able to work independently and within a team, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate excellent organization, time management and attention to detail. This position is located in Ann Arbor with hybrid options available. Opportunities to participate in grant writing and scholarly dissemination projects are available.

Work Locations

In person activities will take place in Ann Arbor, MI 48109. The opportunity for partially remote/hybrid work is available. Details of any remote work will be coordinated directly with the Project Manager. 

Modes of Work

This is a two year term-limited, grant-funded regular appointment. Funds are assured through August 2026. Effort on additional projects within SPRCL may  be available based on experience and interest. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
