Events Planner
Job Description
EVENTS PLANNER, School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P), will independently execute a wide variety of events ranging from ceremonies with 1,000 attendees to student lunches for ten; contribute insight into event planning, concept, and design; provide general administrative services for student support function; organize and serve as point person for event logistics and operations, e.g., facilities, decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, invitee list, equipment, promotional material, etc.; establish timelines and deadlines; respond to and resolve questions and problems; identify, interview, select, and negotiate with vendors; create invitations and marketing materials and handle PR activities; evaluate event staffing needs and train and direct volunteers; develop events budgets for review and approval by events sponsors; independently track and reconcile event/programming expenses consistent with the budget; develop and maintain databases to generate reports, including registration and budgets; evaluate events and recommend and implement changes and enhancements based on feedback; participate in monthly student support team meetings and pursue follow up activities as necessary; draft, format, fact-check, and proofread correspondence and other content; and perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience in events planning or project/program management; ability to work independently and as part of a team and to communicate effectively--both in writing and orally--with diverse audiences; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to give constructive direction; meticulous attention to detail; and facility with event and project management software and interest in trying new tools. Work conditions: Moving objects weighing 10 to 20 lbs. and traversing significant distances or moving from site to site.
Must be able to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 depending on experience.
