Job Summary
The Division of Workforce Partnerships is looking for building/apprenticeship trade instructors to teach Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) training. CCRI is seeking trade professionals, preferably with some teaching experience. The instructor will be responsible for all learning outcomes of our programs and will focus on student development and preparation of students to enter the building and apprenticeship trades. The instructor will work side-by-side with colleagues to ensure that courses have successful outcomes and that students receive a high-quality education. This role is in response to employer demand and can include day, evening, and/or weekend hours.
The building trades instructor will be responsible for communicating what shifts they are available to work and ensuring that they are able to work all classes that they agree to instruct.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life experiences.
- Create a positive teaching and learning environment, utilizing a combination of lecture and applied learning via hands-on activities. Deliver content using a variety of methods to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Communicate class content utilizing a variety of teaching methods so that learning occurs, skills are developed, and students are motivated to learn and achieve their educational and employment objectives.
- Deliver effective lesson plans and provide supplemental material to achieve course objectives and address student needs.
- Integrate technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction.
- Keep detailed and organized records of students’ attendance, assessments, and progress, including a final evaluation.
- Work creatively in all classes taught to discourage student withdrawal and maintain satisfactory retention.
- Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and adhere to CCRI’s policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations.
- Assist in keeping organized records of students’ attendance, assessments, and progress, including a final evaluation.
- Work with workforce staff to develop/contextualize outlines, lesson plans and learning assessments.
- Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including supplementary materials for lecture and lab-based activities as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the program coordinators and other instructors in the training and attend meetings as needed.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensure all tools and tool bags are being properly maintained and checked-in/ checked out to avoid tool loss.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience in a trade environment (journeyman level) and/or education shop environment for a minimum of 5 years
- Experience in either traditional instruction, peer training, or on-the-job mentoring
- Highly proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, primarily), email, and the internet for instruction and program purposes
- Interest in preparing and training the next generation of entry-level trade professionals
- Intermediate digital communication technology skills (presentation tools, online meetings, etc.)
- Experience with classroom/team management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Creativity and flexibility in the classroom are expected
- Preferred: 10 years’ experience in an apprenticeship trade
- Preferred: Associate degree or higher

- Experience working with a diverse student population
- Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management
- Teaching experience in similar post-secondary programs
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning theory, life skills and college and career readiness curricula for adult populations
